Mystery Science Theater 3000, also called MST3K, is a wonderful American cult television series that was sent 1988-1999. It was created by Joel Hodgson and produced by Best Brains Inc. The plot is about a man and his robot sidekicks that has been trapped by two mad scientists, Dr. Clayton Forrester and Dr. Laurence Erhardt, on board the Satellite of Love . The man is forced to watch B-movies to see how many B-movies that will drive a person mad. Dr. Forrester has a scheme of world domination and he wants to pinpoint the perfect B-movie to use as a weapon to create this plan. The man, Joel, is trapped on Satellite of Love, (S.O.L).
During the B-movies the man and his robots make a running commentary on the film, where the flaws are brought up and made fun of. He is punished by Dr. Forrester for non-compliance.
The B-movies sends at a movie theatre which make the audience of the show feel very comfortable, imagining they were with the friends eating popcorn and watching movies. As the movies play, the silhouettes of Joel, Tom, and Crow are visible at the bottom of the screen. They are mocking the movie to prevent themselves from being driven mad.
The man was originally played by Hodgson himself but was later replaced by Michel J. Nelson in 1993.
During the eleven years the show was running it became very popular, to that degree that we soon will see it’s return thanks to donations that helped to bring back the show. 14 brand new episodes will be filmed for the fans to enjoy.
The series also won a Peabody Award in 1993.
